Privacy Policy

Last updated 3 August 2026

Purr Frequency is a small family project. We collect as little as we possibly can, and we have deliberately built the site so that simply reading it tells us nothing about you.

The short version

Who we are

Purr Frequency ("we", "us") publishes relaxation, sleep and focus recordings featuring our own cats. The site is purrfrequency.com. For any privacy question, write to frequencypurr@gmail.com.

What we collect

Your email address, only when you give it to us. If you enter your email into the subscribe form, we store that address together with the date you subscribed and a note that it came from the website. That is the entire record. We do not ask for your name, your location, or anything else.

If you email us directly, we obviously have whatever you chose to put in that email.

What you send through the contact form. If you write to us on the Let's Connect page, we store your name, your email address, the subject, the topic you picked, the optional "favourite way to relax" answer, and your message. A copy is also emailed to us so that we actually see it. We store it so a message cannot be lost, and so we can find it again when we reply. We do not record your IP address with it.

What we do not collect

How we count visits

We use Vercel Web Analytics to see which pages people actually read. We changed our mind about this — an earlier version of this policy said we ran no analytics at all. We would rather tell you plainly than quietly swap it in.

Here is precisely what it does, taken from Vercel's own documentation rather than our summary of it:

What gets recorded with each page view: the time, the page address, where you arrived from, your approximate location from country down to city, your browser and version, your operating system, and whether you are on a phone, tablet or computer.

That is genuinely all of it. We use it to answer questions like "does anyone read the science page" — not to build a picture of you.

Vercel publishes the full detail at vercel.com/docs/analytics/privacy-policy. If you would rather not be counted, any browser content blocker will stop the script, and nothing on this site will break.

What we use your email for

To let you know when a new purr session is published, and occasionally to share news about the project. Nothing else. Every email we send will include a way to unsubscribe, and you can also simply reply and ask.

Companies that help us run the site

We use a small number of well-known services. They only receive what they need in order to work.

ServiceWhat it handlesWhat it can see
SupabaseThe database holding the subscriber listYour email address and the date you subscribed. Servers are located in Canada.
VercelWebsite hosting, and counting page viewsStandard server records when a page is requested, which include your IP address and browser type. Separately, its analytics records the page views described above — cookieless, with no IP stored.
Google FontsThe typeface used on the siteYour IP address, at the moment the font file is downloaded.
ResendSending our emails, and delivering contact-form messages to usYour email address, and the contents of anything you send us through the form.
YouTubeVideo playbackNothing at all unless you press play. See below.

Videos

Videos on this site do not load until you click the play button. Until you do, no request is made to YouTube and YouTube learns nothing about your visit. We build our embeds this way on purpose.

Once you press play, the video is served through YouTube's privacy-enhanced domain (youtube-nocookie.com), which limits but does not eliminate tracking. From that point Google's own privacy policy applies to your viewing.

How long we keep what you send us

Messages sent through the contact form are kept while they are useful — normally until the conversation is finished and for a reasonable period afterwards in case you write again. Ask us to delete yours and we will, without asking why.

How long we keep your email

Until you ask us to remove it, or until the mailing list stops running. There is no other expiry.

Your choices

You can ask us at any time to tell you what we hold about you, correct it, or delete it entirely. Email frequencypurr@gmail.com and we will action it — no forms, no conditions, no attempt to talk you out of it.

Depending on where you live, you may have formal rights over your personal data under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA. We are happy to honour those requests regardless of where you are.

Children

This site is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has subscribed, email us and we will remove the address immediately.

Security

The subscriber list is protected by database rules that allow the website to add an address but never to read the list back. Even though the website's access key is public — as it must be for any website — it cannot be used to retrieve anyone's email address.

Contact-form messages are held under the same kind of rule and are stricter still: they cannot be read from the website at all, by anyone. They are only visible to the site owner after signing in to a private admin page.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of this page. If the change is significant and you are on the mailing list, we will tell you by email.
